PAX is solidair met Maati Monjib, een oud- partner van Pax, uit Marokko. Maati Monjib werd kort vastgehouden op het vliegveld van Casablanca, op 16 september. Hij kreeg geen toestemming om het vliegtuig te nemen naar Barcelona omdat de openbare aanklager een reisverbod tegen hem afkondigde. Sindsdien is Maati Monjib uit protest in hongerstaking op het hoofdkwartier van de Marokkaanse mensenrechtenorganisatie AMDH in Rabat.
Maati Monjib is de directeur van de organisatie Freedom Now, een organisatie die de vrijheid van meningsuiting en journalistiek verdedigt. De autoriteiten weigerden om Freedom Now te registreren op willekeurige gronden, tegen de achtergrond van een toename van repressieve maatregelen tegen maatschappelijke organisaties. In 2006 richtte Maati Monjib het Ibn Roshd Centre for Studies and Communication op. Deze sloot in 2015 na tegenwerking door de autoriteiten.

PAX expresses solidarity with former partner in Morocco, Mr. Maati Monjib, who was briefly detained by authorities at the Mohamed V International Airport in Casablanca on16 September 2015. He was denied permission to board a flight to Spain, as the Public Prosecutor’s Office had issued a travel ban against him. Since then, Monjib has gone on hunger strike at the headquarters of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH), in Rabat, in protest against the restrictive measure.
Maâti Monjib is the President of Freedom Now, an association that works to defend freedom of expression and journalism in Morocco. The association was arbitrarily denied registration by the authorities in May 2014, due to restrictions on the activities of civil society organisations. In 2006 Monjib also founded the Ibn Rochd Centre for Studies and Communication, in Rabat, which shut down in January 2015 after authorities obstructed the running of several of its activities.
